Die 2023 aufgenommenen Stücke dokumentieren zwei charakteristische Facetten unserer Arbeitsweise. In "Cut & Cue", einer Komposition von Daniel Studer, werden die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Vorgaben und Improvisation ausgelotet. Auf Zeichen – on cue – werden vorgegebene Elemente abgerufen und improvisatorisch weiterentwickelt; dabei können abrupte Übergänge – cuts – entstehen. So lassen sich auch unterschiedliche stilistische Ansätze und Spielweisen der letzten Jahrzehnte scharf gegeneinander schneiden. "Sea & Seed" hingegen ist eine editierte Improvisation ohne jegliche Vorgaben – der Kernbereich des Trios.

The two pieces document two characteristic facets of our working approach. In 'Cut & Cue', a composition by Daniel Studer, the interaction between predetermined material and improvisation is explored. At certain signals — on cue — given elements are recalled and developed through improvisation; in the process, abrupt transitions — cuts — may occur. In this way, different stylistic approaches and playing techniques can be sharply juxtaposed. 'Sea & Seed', on the other hand, is an edited improvisation without any predetermined structure — the core of the trio.
